The illusion of protection
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to put out there if anyone's going through something tough right now. I think addiction starts as a way to hide from pain, like using it to deal with difficult emotions or feelings of emptiness that you don't know how to handle. For a while, it might feel like your only friend, the one thing that keeps things manageaable.
But over time, without realizing it, what felt protective turns into something controlling. If you're in this now-counting days since a setback, feeling overwhelmed by guilt, or wondering if you have the strength to keep going-take a moment and breathe deeply.
The ral challenge isn't letting go of that protection; it's learning how to face your feelings without any defense. Shame might try telling you that you're broken or that you've messed up all your chances. But shame is just misleading. Forgive yourself for needing that shield in the first place, because that's the sart of finding a way out.
Recovery isn't always straightforward-it can be messy and unpredictable, filled with small victories that might not seem important at the time but are really significant. It's about choosing to stay present right now-to make it through this hour, this minute, or even just this breath. You're not failing by struggling; you're a person figuring out how to live again. Be kind to yourself today and take things one step at a time.

Well done.
Thanks, your message means a lot. It's what I needed to hear from God. The loneliness and failure in my life are hard to face, plus the porn addiction turned into sex exposure. Did it last week, still struggling with self-compassion. Feels like I keep taking chances but not following through. This time is different though, it's really it. Know God forgives me and wants me to change. Thanks again.
Thanks for being so open about everything-it really takes guts to share something like that. Don't let last week's little bump in the road get you down; healing isn't ever just smooth sailing, right? If you believe God knows your heart and sees how sincere you are about wantig to change, then try to remember He doesn't just focus on those moments when things don't go as planned. Give yourself the same kind of grace and forgiveess that you feel from Him. Take it one day at a time, because we're all here cheering for you and offering support whenever you need it.
