Adhd rly a thing parents noob af tho
just wanted 2 say ths cuzz i was cryin earlier coz my mom didn't believe me about adhd but now i'm really struggling with vertical additions & basic mental math kumon told me to do it:sob: and yeah i mainly use headphones while doing mental math. it's been so hard and getting harder as im getting older.
i started researching adhd when i was 11, like now around 15-16 ish, i feel like this possible adhd is really affecting me. i forget stuff often & lose my words sometimes which makes me do the charade game thing lol
i wasn't usually like this before or up till about 14 but now it's like there's too much noise or physical sensations that annoy me. before, problems were mild and i'd just smile them away but not anymore...
earlier at scholo the aircon was humming which is a small issue compared to the echo in class. it was so loud i couldn't hear the teacher even though everyone else could, then when i started doodling i suddenly heard her better... weird right?
i really don't know if this is just "fix my schedule & exercise more + cut sugar" like mom says or if i need an adhd assessment. but how do i get that since im still a minor...
p.s. sorry for dumping all ths venting.. just wanna know if u guys feel the same

No need to apologize-just let it all out here. Sorry your folks aren't getting how tough things are for you right now, but we're here to listen.
Hey there! Same boat here-struggled with focus and concentration since I was young. Zoning out in class or during homework was just my thing, and keeping up sometimes felt like climbing Mount Everest with one leg tied behind my back.
As I grew older, the gaps between me and everyone else got more obvious, which made it even tougher to keep up. Trust me when I say I know that frustration all too well. We might have to put in extra effort, but hey, we're not alone in this ride!
After years of figuring things out for myself, here are a few tips that helped me out:
Writing down everything-whether on my phone or paper-is a game-changer. Super obvious advice, I know, but it honestly helps ease the mind and keeps you from stressing about forgetting stuff.
Focusing on one thing at a time? Tough when your brain notices every little sound and movement around you. It's not your fault; we just process things differently because of our lower dopamine levels. That means all kinds of stimuli feel magnified, leading to sensory overload pretty quickly.
So if noise feels incredibly loud, that's just how it is for us. A quiet space helps a lot, but you can also turn off those pesky phone notifications too. Fewer distractions mean more peace and focus time!
Another trick: studying with someone naturally focused might actually pull you along. Sometimes the people aroud you influence your mindset, and having a buddy nearby can boost accountability and motivation.
Hope these little hacks help make things just a bit easier!
