Managing ADHD and staying disciplined
Hey everyone!
I was wondering if you guys had any tips on staying disciplined and accountable. Like, something that works really well for keepnig up with deadlines.
So here's a bit about me: I'm 30 and currently finishing my Master's thesis-it's been taking forever to get through!-and I need to make sure I work consistently every day since there's so much writing involved. But it's been four months now, and the excitement is wearing off. It's getting pretty tough to push myself.
In the past, daily check-ins at my old job were really helpful because we'd upddate each other on our progress as a team. So I was thinking maybe someone here has some advice for me?
I've tried keeping journals, making it like a game, rewarding myself with treats or breaks-but nothing feels quite genuine unless there's external accountability, or it makes me feel bad if I can't meet my goals some days.
Any ideas would be great!

Can't start big, so take small steps. Like closing socials in bed before studying. Works for me. Hope it helps
I've noticed that I tend to concentrate better if someone else is around and focused on something similar too. Maybe you could ask around if anyone knows someone working on a master's thesis?
I think I managed to handle some long tasks by setting alarms for breaks every 30 minutes or so. You know, you can use an app like the toato one-I just check if I need a break at those intervals. And then when you do take that break, let yourself enjoy something you really love for a little bit before going back to work. If you find it hard to focus, maybe try getting physically active for a while and then coming back to your task. Or switch to another chapter or section-it seems to help sometimes. Recently, I've been listening to the band LEAO non-stop, and oddly enough, their music helps me get into this focused state with layers of sound that seem to keep me locked in. Maybe give it a shot-good luck!
