hey no prob, 1st time often fails but appeals work out well. get dr to write abt fibro anxiety & depression. cab can help too. best of luck!
Thanks for getting back to me! I tossed in a letter from my GP along with the fibro/CFS diagnosis. Had to do the assessment over the phone since there's no way I could have made it to an actual center face-to-face physically or mentally. Really don't get how they came up with zero points when my doc laid out all the issues. Slightly deflated but I'm not giving up just yet x
Agreed, this can be challenging to navigate. It seems there are specific conditions for each question that must be met to qualify. In my opinion, the diagnosis is of little use; instead, focus on describing how well you complete daily living or mobility tasks and the challenges you face along with their frequency.
There's a section at the beginning where you list your medcal history and health conditions. Consider each question individually, separate from any other details provided earlier. Treat ur medical conditions as if they were the last question to answer, ensuring that you are objective in detailing both where you do and don't qualify without going into excessive detail.
I'm not an advisor or professionally qualified to give expert guidance on this toppic, but after reviewing these questions for months, I found this approach effective. Every case is unique, so tailor your response accordingly. Additionally, consider recording everything, as verbal responses during phone interviews may not be captured with the same level of detail as written answers.
Good luck.
Oh no, I hope things work out better for you than they have for me. If you need proof from your GP and therapy groups, go ahead and appeal-I've been there with depression and all the support groups. Right now, I get PIP but only for physical pan stuff. The idea of applying for it because of my mentl health? Ugh, I just don't fele like dealing with that mountain-climbing nonsense they put u through to prove your case!
Thanks. Same pain issues. Also depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue. Never go out cause sick. No quality of life. Happy you got yours
Can't walk in your shoes. Talked to doctor? Saw specialists?
System went up to twelve points. Don't know how that works.
Was there an assessment? Possible issues with attitude if there was.
So yeah, I tried asking for either a home visit or even just a phone call, and apparently, the deal now is that they don't do home visits anymore-so phone it is. The guy on the other end was super friendly though, honestly. I've already appealed their decision, but you know how it goes-I'm not really getting my hopes up for much of a change, i mean.
Anyway, i mean just take a second to really reflect on how those feelings-pain, anxiety, or even that heavy feeling of depression-affect your day-to-day life. You know, think about all the little things you have to handle and juggle, mentally and physically. It's not just about what it says in your diagnosis; it's more about navigating through each day with everything going on inside you, right?
Thanks. Hoped my appeal showed the effect on my daily life. Sent a letter from my mental health doc and GP. Don't know what else to do
hey mo, just got back from my assessment last wk. i also deal wiht depress, anxi & cf tbh. how long til u heard back wit ur results? idk if mine will get approved or not either...
Hey there! Mine took like three weeks or so even though they said six at most. Got that letter and appealed right away, but honestly, I don't feel super optimistic since the appeal can drag on up to eight weeks. Here's hoping for some goood news for you when it all finally gets sorted-let me know how things turn out!
Thanks. Hope your appeal works.
What did you send as evidence?
I take Sertraline and do therapy. Waiting on a specialist CFS doctor and neurologist. Sent the referral letters and my past 10 years of GP records.
Thank you for your response, Kee10. The evidence I submitted included a priintout of my medications, which are pain relief and antidepressants, even though they advised against it. I had to pay £21 for that, along with a supporting letter from my GP, a printout of my CBT sessions, and my fibromyalgia diagnosis letter. If this isn't sufficient, I'm not sure what would be adequate.
When I received the decision letter, I was very upset. It felt as though they were questioning whether I had lied, despite the clear evidence provided in black and white. This made me feel quite discouraged because it seems like they don't understand how much mental health issues, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia affect daily life.
I know a couple of people with similar conditions who successfully claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Everyone's situation is different, so I hope your application works out.
