Chronic worry keeps me up at night

Got handed some mirtazapine pills, couldn't catch any Zs. Doc said cut out coffee or drink it super early for a few days to see if that helped. Tried it the second night-same old story, no sleep at all and wide awake. Desperate move: took magnesium citrate. Didn't work, just messed up my tummy and I ended up with an hour and a half of rest.

Then last night was promethazine 50mg-a tad better but not great, only got an hour and fiftene minutes of sleep. Resorted to clonazepam at 7 PM and somehow managed another three hours. No coffee again though!

At this point,I'm seroiusly questioning everything.Have tried amitriptyline, olanzapine, mianserin-basically every drug under the sun-and my sleep just keeps getting worse. The more restless nights I have, the more it consumes me all day long.

Oh man, I tried that link too but it's not doing what it should be...

If you have no allergies or health issues that necessitate a specific diet, then there should be no restrictions.

Trying to chill? I listen to books. Keeps me from stressing. Once I fell asleep mid-Mr. Mercedes mistake. Not good.

I am concerned about devoting too much time to deciding which medications to use.

Is your anxiety about sleep adn worrying that you're not gonna fall asleep keeping you awake? Honestly, give CBTI a try-it's all about sleep and how we get stuck in this anxiety loop. If you're in the UK, zopiclone can help wiht sleep too, but don't use it for long cause it's addictive. For me, Sleepstation is pretty cool; some places offer it free on the NHS, others charge £165 or so. Keep trying and be super nice to yourself, okay?

I think the magnesium glycinate might be good for sleep, maybe? And I believe the citrate helps with going to the bathroom.

Don't give up, though. I'm on a tough road trying to find the right meds too. You're not alone in this-I feel you!

By the way, I'm currently weaning off mirtazapine. It did help with sleep but it made me gain weight and didn't really help my anxiety at all.
