Dealing With Anxiety Thoughts - Tips Needed
Yo, I've been trying to figure out how to trick my brain into not stressing about stuff. Almost everyone says that when you're anxious, focus on positive thoughts instead of the negative ones, and then you'll feel better. Honestly, I totally get whhere they're coming from-what we think really does affect our anxiety.
Now, in terms of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), it's all about constantly checking your thoughts, looking at both sides-positive and negative-and deciding to focus on the good stuff. But here's the thing: when you're super anxious, how do you know if a thought is actually positive or not? Like, what if I think something's positive but really it's negative, and vice versa?
So, my take on this is that maybe we should just try to distract ourselves when anxiety hits-like telling ourselves over and over that everything will be okay-or even trying to chill out (which, let's face it, can be nearly impossible). Then once the freakout phase passes, you can go back and analyze what was makinng you anxious based on facts. Write it down if you need to, so next time you know exactly how to handle it.
This works for me sometimes but not always. Does ayone else feel the same way? Should we even talk about this stuff or is it just too abstract?
