Fluuoxetine - it's a game changer for mehonestly
Anyone tried either of these? I'd love to hear experiences with sertraline versus fluoxetine-what worked for you?

Hi there,
I think I take fluoxetine 20 mg capsules too, for multiple sclerosis fatigue and to help with my clinical depression.
Thanks! Did you get any side effects?
Didn't get any side effects myself. Hope it works for others
Thanks a bunch! Did you try either sertraline or citalopram? I've heard they can be really helpful.
Never tried Fluoxetine, but Sertraline helped with my lows. Worked before bipolar diagnosis.
You're welcome! Thanks for reaching out-hope everything's going well with you.
Have you noticed anything weird happening to you after? I mean, did you get any side effects or something?
I was on sertraline for two years, but it didn't really do much for my anxiety. My GP and I decided to switch it up-because, honestly, I developed agoraphobia about a year adn a half ago. After some digging around, I found that eight SSRIs might help with my situation, and sertraline was one of them. So I've been slowly coming off it-it wasn't the best experience-and I just started on fluoxetine. Right now, I'm only on 20 mg, but we'll see how that goes. If you're in a similra spot, do your research to find out what else is out there. No one's going to help you like you can help yourself, so go with what you learn and decide what's next for you.
Thanks! Anyway, how long were you on it for, i mean?
On the sertraline? Two years and still nothing. Found out about other options, figured two years is enough, time for a change.
sertraline sucks
I just wanted to remind you that it's your body and your choice-don't hesitate to say something if you feel it's not working for you. Stay strong and take care of yourself, okay? xx
Thanks! How have you been doing with fluoxetine? Have you noticed any side effects different from when you were on sertraline?
Ah, I'm just getting into it-started on Sat, Oct 1 too, hahaha.
haha hope you're feeling better today-were you up early or still catching those Zs?
Oh, that's not too bad,I guess. Maybe it would be even better if I could just fit through the door though, you know? But, fingers crossed, this might help a bit.
wanna guess what triggered the agoraphobia?
Fuck, no clue. Nothing bad happened, but it was during the pandemic, so that sucked. I'm okay if my one son is around or when I see my counselor.
Which meds are you taking? Are they working for you?
I have been taking citalopram for 19 days but couldn't tolerate the side effects, so my doctor prescribed sertraline instead. However, I felt ill on that medication for a few days, and now my doctor has given me fluoxetine to try. I am worried because I have had several different tablets in such a short period, and I fear it might harm my brain. I haven't started taking the fluoxetine yet because I am too scared.
Hey, chillax, u were on those meds for such a brief stint your brain probably didn't even register it. So now if they've handed you something new, give it a shot! Try not to sweat the side effects-focusing too much on them can make you feel worse because you'll be hyper-aware of every little thing. Trust me, there's nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying this new stuff.
Thank you. Did you go through a period without taking sertraline before starting the new medication?
I think oh no, I finished my sertraline on Friday and started taking fluoxetine on Saturday. Now we just need to increase the dosage, I guess.
How much Sertraline were you taking? Just wondering if it's the same dosage as when I was on 100 mg a day.
200mg for 2 years omg lmao fr that's a lot
thanks! i just started taking fluoxetine-maybe someone can keep their fingers crossed for me?
hey, we'll both be good, let's do this together, yolo! and who cares about the side effects aynway? nerd alert
thanks a lot, i guess
nps, stay strong. it'll work out. ok xx
Thanks a ton! Honestly, I really appreciate it-really grateful over here
I'm taking fluoxetine, and it helps a little bit for me. I take 60 mg. I tried sertraline before but had a reaction to it.
thanks! anyway,i mean, what was the 'were you on?' supposed to mean?
hey i'm on fluox and trazeodne for my mood and depression. used to be on sertraline but got super sick to my stomach. fluox works way better no probs at all
Thank you for your response. Could you tell me what doses you use, please? Thank you.
Hey there! So I'm on fluoxetine right now for some serious anxiety and agoraphobia issues. Started taking it six months back, and oh man, right around when I first started, these annoying muscle spasms cropped up too. At first, they were manageable, but as the dose went from 20mg to 60mg over time, those spasms just got wose and worse. To be honest, my mental health hasn't really improved either with all this going on.
When I brought it up with my GP, he was like "Oh,must be a coincidence." But honestly? I don't buy that for a second. He's pretty much been ignoring me when I talk about these side effects, and to be real, it's frustrating as heck because I just want some relief without feeling like I'm falling apart.
Anyway, i mean, if anyone has any advice or experiences with this soort of thing, that would be super helpful!
Hi there,
I just wanted to say that if your body feels off, maybe it's a good idea to pay attention to those signals. You could look up information about the medication and check for any potential side effects. Then, I think you should go see your doctor with this info so theey can help you figure things out. Don't give up, okay?
Best,

Like others have mentioned, everyone's experience is different. I just wanted to share that I was on fluoxetine for nearly 15 years and did not notice any significant improvement. After switching to sertraline, however, I feel much better-with less anxiety and depression. Previously, I was taking 80 mg of fluoxetine, but now I am on 100 mg of sertraline, which is essentially a different formulation of the same class of medication. Despite this, I feel more engaged and less overwhelmed.
