Has therapy rlly hlpd wth anx & dep?
ive b been dealing w anxiety and depression 4 like ever & rn i'm wondering if getting pro help is actually worth it in the long run. i tried self-help stuff, lifestyle changes, and online resources but some days r still crazy hard. idk i really wanna hear from ppl who went 2 a mental health clinic or got therapy fr a therapist or psychiatrist.
wat was the turning pt for u? did treatment help ur symptoms become manageable? how long before u noticed any improvements?
i'm not looking 4 a quick fix, just honest stories adn advice fr ppl who've been there & foud something that rlly helped. thanks!

Hi,
Yeah, I've been there too and tried every option under the sun. My team includes a doctor, a clinical psychologist, and even a psychiatrist, but they now say my condition is "hard to treat" instead of treatment-resistant.
Unfortunately, it's more common than drug companies let on that people might improve but still have lingering symptoms that mess with their everyday life. Dr. Andrew J. Cutler wrote about this in an article for Healio Strategic Solutions. He talks about how despite advances in neuropsychiatric science, treatments for major depressive disorder (MDD) are often misunderstood and clouded by silence, stigma, and stereotypes.
In his piece, he mentions that even though there are plenty of treatment options out there, nearly two-thirds of patients don't fully recover after their first antideperssant therapy. He stresses the importance of considering additional evidence-based therapies to help people move pats partial improvement and towards full recovery.
I don't want this to freak anyone out, but it's good to know that only about one-third of patients get better with their initial treatment, leaving the other two-thirds to keep fighting for remission.
