Mental Health Issues Don't Make You An Alien
I really wish people could get that mental illness hits just as hard as any broken bone, even if you can't see it. Demi Lovato said it best: "The brain is the most important organ in our body." I definitely try to keep an open mind and heart for folks dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, or depression-stuff I've been through myelf-and I know firsthand how isolating it feels.
Stigma's a big deal too. It seems like when someone has physical health issues, people rally around them without batting an eye. But mental health? Oh boy, that's a whole other ball game. Folks tend to pull back because they think we're just stuck in negativity or maybe even fear they'll catch our "toxicity." The funny thing is, I swear most of us are still there for others through thick and thin.
And it's true-no one wants to be around constant gloominess all the time. But sometimes, all people need is a little company when things get rough. A listening ear or a hug can go such a long way. We know we're asking for something small here-a bit of understanding, acceptance, and maybe just being there.
I mean, it's not like we expect everyone to live in constant sunshine. Real talk: optimism is overrated these days anyway. But seriously, when things are tough, having someone stick around can make all the difference. We're tough fighters, even if it doesn't always show on the outside-we go to work, take care of families, and put on a brave face.
So yeah,if you want to keep us in your life, that's amazing. But if not-if being there during low times is too much-that's okay too. Just please be honest about it. It's way less painful for everoyne involved than the constant back-and-forth of showing up when things are good and ghosting us at our lowest points.
We need empathy more than sympathy. W're just asking to not be left behind when we realyl need you most.

totally well said tho it took abt 10 mins to read lol but it was really good
Totally get where you're coming from. Mental health issues and invisible illnesses honestly aren't taken seriously enough. I've been dealing with Bipolar disorder, panic attacks, and anxiety since my younger days-it was a total mess back then because no one understood what I was going through. Now I have end stage kidney faiure too-something people can't see-and it's like everyone expects me to just keep going even when I'm totally wiped out or feeling terrible. I try not to make a big deal about my stuff, but honestly, we all need more empathy and understanding because u never know what someone else is facing. Thanks for sharing this, really needed to hear that.
