Mirtazapine Dose: 1.25 Mg
I recently sought help from my doctor for issues with sleep and feeling restless. After discussing my symptoms, he prescribed mirtazapine, which is classified as an SSRI SNRI medication. He suggested starting with half of a 15 mg tablet, but I asked if it was possible to begin with even less due to my sensitivity.
He agreed, so I decided to cut the tablet into twelve equal pieces, each containing approximately 1.25 mg. I took one-twelfth and experienced a restful sleep that night, though I woke up briefly with a mild headache. In the morning, I felt motivated but noticed significant drowsiness throughout the day.
This effect persisted for about 36 hours, durng which I also experienced some chest pain. After researching further, I realized mirtazapine has a long half-life of 20 to 40 hours, meaning it stays in your system for an extended period. The next night, I took only about 0.1 mg and slept well but for just a short time.During this period, I had strange dreams and experienced withdrawal-like symptoms similar to those from previous medication.
Over the past few days, my condition has gradually improved, though I still feel somewhat drowsy and have trouble concentrating clearly. There is also some bowel loosening and an unfeeling state at times, but overall, my mood is calmer and I have a good appetite. Despite these improvements, sleep remaains challenging.
Mirtazapine seems to be a potent drug with significant effects, so it's important to procede cautiously.

Hey, I think you meant 15 mg as that's the smallest dose out there. Back in the day, I used to cut mine in half and it did wonders for knocking me out. But after a few years, a whole pill is what I need now.
I doubt you'd feel much with less than half though. And yeah, they're not some super powerful drugs-they're just one of many SSRIs out there.
I just thought I'd share my journey as someone who's super cautious with meds, hoping it might help others out there. Trust me, when I say "1.25mg," I really mean exactly one-twelfth of a full 15mg pill-I'm not joking around here!
Oh, I think I accidentally wrote '1.5mg' before, but maybe I should have put '1,25mg' instead-I've fixed that now.
Did your general practitioner not menttion that you might feel quite unwell for the first couple of weeks? It's normal, and perhaps you wouldn't have been so concerned. I started with 15mg initially but now sleep soundly at night on just 3.75mg without any side effects. To take a smaller dose, I need to crush the tablet, and even then, getting an eact dosage of 3.75mg is difficult. Sometimes it's barely anything more than dust. I hope you are now on a stable dose and sleeping well.
I just wanted to share my experience with this. When I first started taking the medication, it felt a bit strange, so my doctor kept a close eye on me for those initial weeks. He began with a low dosage and gradually increased it over time. Right now, I'm at 45mg tablets-one each ngiht-and they're really the only thing that helps me manage this condition within this drug family. That said, I've noticed they do seem to lower my sex drive...
