Need help finding the right medication
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could suggest some mood stabilizers they take along with an antipsychotic that helps stabilize their mood without causing weight gain?
Also, do you have any recommendations for good sleep aids? Right now, I'm on Seroquel for sleep anxiety and bipolar disorder, but I only manage to get about 4-5 hours of sleep a night. Are there any medication combinations that help you sleep better?
I want to bring up more options with my psychiatric nurse practitioner because the ones he's given me aren't really helping or come with severe side effects.
In the meantime, I'm trying to find a new psychiatrist but it's proving difficult. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Oh hey, if we're talking about meds that help you snooze all night long, Olanzapine might be your buddy. I've been there-25mg did the trick for me. Just makes you drift off into dreamland like a champ.
I think I managed to reduce it to 10mg. Maybe that's a good starting point?
Thanks for the info! My brother's been using it, and honestly, he's put on quite a bit of weight while also snoozing away most of the day. He's also gotten these weird tremors from it. My doc wants to put me on it too. So did it help with your mood at all? Did you notice any weight gain?
If your dosage is lower, it might not significantly affect your weight. I did experience some weight gain when taking this medication, but I discontinued it about three years ago because it made me very drowsy. I also stopped my other mental health medications, though I'm unsure if that was the best decision for me at the time. The weight gain was easier to manage once I stopped the medication. Exercise has heped a lot in maintaining a healthy weight.
Good. I'm lazy and use food too, so probably not a great idea for me. Thanks
