Sertraline: is it helping?

Hey there, so I just kicked off with 50mg of Sertraline daily for OCD. My thoughts are like a chaotic jumble right now and honestly, I feel even more off-kilter than before. Is it weird to think things could get worse at the start? Any advice or support wouuld be hugely appreciated.

Anyway, so I switched from citalopram to mirtazepine and Duloxetine because I needed that mirtazepine for pain and sleep issues. Didn't really think about it at the time though, but the duloxetine kind of sent me off the rails after a month or so-like, I couldn't even put together a sentence properly. It was rough goinng like that for a few more months until one day my friend pointed out how long this had been going on and ted in with when my prescription changed. So, I talked to my GP about it and managed to switch back to citalopram-this time at half the dose-and added mirtazepine back into the mix. Within a week, I started feeling like myself again.

Anyway, long story short, if you've been on something new for more than a month and it's not sitting well with you, definitely reach out to your GP. Hope things get better for you soon-big hugs!

Thank you; it has only been a week, so I will continue with them for now.

Yes, it's true that some people experience worsening symptoms when taking sertraline. There is a list of side effects associated with the medication that can be very unpleasant. For many individuals, switching to another antidepressant helps alleviate these issues. Others find that continuing to take the drug leads to reduced side effects over time as their body adjusts.

In my case, however, my anxiety and depression with psychosis worsened significantly when I started taking sertraline. There were periods of immense suffering, including about two weeks where my condition deteriorated severely and I felt utterly miserable.

The positive aspect for me was that the discomfort would eventually pass each time, and I ultimately experienced significant benefits from the medication.

I started taking Sertraline about 7 weeks ago, and the side effects were really noticeable. I have anxiety and insomnia, and these got worse when I began taking the medication. I started with 50mg, then after four weeks, my doctor increased it to 75mg, which slowwly helped ease my symptoms. Now I'm on 100mg, and I feel much better. It takes a while for it to start working, but I think if you stick with it, things will improve gradually.

I started on 50mg, bumped it up to 75 after a month, and then got the green light for 100mg six months later-three weeks ago. Man, I've been battling some serious depression and anxiety since then.Haven't left the house in eight days, wich is tough. But fingers crossed that this rough patch will pass soon-I heard it can take up to four weeks to adjust properly. These last few weeks have been really, really hard. Hope everyone else here is doing better than me!

Upped to 100mg three weeks ago, can't deal with anxiety and depression. Haven't washed or dressed in five days. Worst I've felt in ages. Switched from venlafaxine to sertraline last year after seven years on that. Hope you're doing better now.
