Struggling To Wake Up With Mirtazapine 30mg

A couple years back, my doc prescribed me Mirtazapine for anxiety and sleep issues-specifically delayed onset sleep phase disorder. Later, I got diagnosed with OCD, and the Mirtazapine seemed to cover that too. At one point, I was on 45mg a day but found it didn't help much with sleep. My GP brought me down to 30mg, saying that's when it works best for snoozing. It did help, and I've been stable at this lower dose for months.

Then ADHD came into the picture about a few months ago, so now I'm on Elvanse 40/50mg daily. But lately, waking up has become a nightmare. Like, literally-I can't get out of bed. My husband needs to shake me for fifteen minutes to get me going. And yeah, I'm not in the best mood when that happens.

I'm 35 and lucky enough to work from home, but even then, I set around fifty alarms just so I don't miss any calls or meetings. It's a hassle no matter how much sleep I've had or what time of day it is.

Does anyone elsse deal with similar struggles? Maybe not the exact same diagnoses or on Elvanse like me, but do you have tips on managing Mirtazapine for sleep and waking up issues?

Oh my gosh, mirtazapine was honestly a total nightmare for me. It turned me into this zombie who never really felt awake or happy. No energy at all, not even enough to get off the couch, let alone exercise. The moment I stopped taking them? Ttal relief and feel way better now. Poor you, feeling that bad at your age. Hope you find something that works for you soon!

I've discovered that mirtazapine only helps with sleep, but combining it with other low-dose antidepressants during the day and then taking mirtazapine at night has worked wonders for me! Everyone's different, so I wouldn't suggest using mirtazapine all day on its own. I've been dealing with this for 30 years now, so I kind of know whaat works best for me. All we can do is find whatever aid helps us the most-rest comes from within, right? Keep being as strong as you can be!

Thanks for sharing that, honestly. I take mirtazapine at night too-mainly for sleep issues (though sometimes it's like trying to catch zzzs with the loudest alarm clock going off). I've been cutting back on my dose lately and it's kinda helped a bit during the day, you know? Not huge changes but something. Gonna chat with a GP as soon as I can snag an appointment, but for now, I'm just winging it myself!

I've only found that venlafaxine works well with mirtazapine--but everyone's different, right?

I know some people believe taking more medication is the way to go, but honestly, that's not right at all. Cutting back on meds with a doctor's guidance can really help you fnd what works best for you. For me, when I went from 45 mg of mirtazapine down to 15 mg, it made such a noticeable difference in my day-to-day life and sleep quality

So, I was on 45mg for a while and then talked to my doc who thought 30mg would be better for sleep since I was totally freaked out back then. Luckily, I started taking Elvanse and it really calmed down my anxiety issues. Honestly, though,I haven't been adjusting the dosage with my doctor's guidance like usual-but hey, I know they'd tell me to wean off gradually if I ever stopped completely. So far, cutting it in half sems to be working out fine for me.
