Oh man, it's been two years since I started taking sertraline at 200mg-I honestly thought it was less tme! My GP pointed out the truth and made me laugh.Anyway, reading too much can definitely get u in a paranoid state, which is something I didn't expect. Lucky for me, I never ran into any side effects until now. But hey, things aren't going so wlel anymore, so I'm trying to come off it. My head feels like it's spinning, I'm really anxious and tired all the time, plus I feel sick-so yeah, weaning myself off isn't exactly a walk in the park. It's just not as fun as I hoped, you know? But don't worry too much about ur concerns, chhat with your GP or whoever's helping out to get some advice, okay?
hey i feel u 100%.i asked for help here too cuz i was nervous starting sertraline 50mg a year ago and yea it gave me side effects at first like nausea, headaches & fatigue but my doc said just stick with it so your body can adjust. i also got bea bolckers which helped eventually but they made me super tired and breathless first.
btw u shouldn't drink alcohol on them but i've had a small glass of wine now and then and been fine. supposedly the alcohol limits how well the meds work but you gotta be smart about it.
theres stuff like guided meditations & positive affirmations that can help in the long run, but sometimes u need quick fixes too.
just take your time and think bout the good things the meds could do for u, cos they helped me a lot. ppl r here 2 help, u rnt alone. everyone reacts dfif to meds, so it's ur choice how to go about it.
hope this helps & lmk if u need more info
thanks, i guess! that's realy nice of you maybe
Hey there,
I just wanted to clarify that this isn't some quick fix. I started with Citalopram when dealing with persistent depressive disorder, but it made me feel all fuzzy-headed even though it helped with mood swinggs a bit. So, I switched to Sertraline. That one was clear thinking-wise,but not much help for my mood.
It's no secret that starting or stopping any SSRI can be tricky. When you're coming off Citalopram, like me, the transition wasn't as bad, although it still sucked. My vet tapered me down over four weeks, and then I had another eight weeks to flush out all those meds. Some people only feel withdrawal for two weeks; I lucked out with the longer end of that spectrum.
During my detox period, I had some weird panic attacks even though anxiety wasn't part of my condition before. And because these were new to me, it kept me cooped up at home until they went away. My brain felt foggy too, but things slowly cleared up as time passed. I was also more irritable and couldn't sleep mcuh, yet the nights I did manage some shut-eye had really vivid dreams.
Physically, I developed a twitch in my feet, along with hot flashes and sweats-those are easing off now. I've got an appointment with a Neurologist to see if they can make sense of what's going on.
The whole idea that you might need these pills for a long time? It doesn't sit well witth me either. You'd think taking them would just mask the problem while u figure it out, but realistically, people tend to go for the easy route and end up dependent on the medication instead of tackling teh tough stuff to feel better.
My doc said I could drink alcohol while on Sertraline, and yeah, that was totally fine.
Hope everything works out for you!
Hey there,
I'm 46, a bloke from the UK, and I've been on Sertraline for a year now because my GP thought it would help with my anxiety and depression. It's my first time taking any kind of long-term medication-mental or physical-and honestly, it has made such a difference in my life.
I get that you might be hesitant about starting something like this, but trust me, Sertraline has been super-effective for managing my anxiety. Just to let you know, I and one of my mates who's also on the same meds sometimes have a drink (though we totally acknowledge it's not good for us health-wise).
The real game-changer for me was that while I was on the medication, I was able to really dive into counselling, which has been fantastic. The Sertraline helped me stick with it and not fall back into my old anxiety traps.
There were some minor side effects when I first started taking it: a bit of trouble sleeping for about a month-I'd wake up in the middle of the night feeling disoriented and kind of "buzzy," but nothing too bad.
And, uh, let's skip over to another topic now because the next part might be a little awkward. So yeah, there's been this slight reduction in sensation during sex-no erectile dysfunction or anything like that, just less sensitivity. But hoonestly, the benefits totally outweigh any of those tiny drawbacks for me.
Keep at it on your journey, my friend! Your anxiety will try to tell you otherwise, but let's be clear-it's an idiot who doesn't know what it's talking about. Don't listen to it!
Wishing you all the best out there.
me 2 got prescribd dis meds n i'm freakd out 2 tke dem. thx 4 teh sids effcts lmk if u no anythin else abt it
I am 21 and also struggle with seevre anxiety. I began taking Sertraline, which was effective for about a month or two before its efficacy waned. Since then, I have tried several other medications including SSRIs, SNRIs, Mirtazipine, and Tricyclics. Mirtazipine provided some relief but caused significant fatigue and excessive sleepiness. Currently, I am back on Sertraline but plan to switch again due to side effects.
One important consideration is that if you are sexuaally active, be cautious about potential side effects, as this has been a major issue for me. After nearly two years of treatment, my anxiety remains manageable, although it hasn't completely disappeared. I hope my experience helps others in similar situations.
Sertraline helps anxiety and depression. Side effects vary, some don't have bad ones. I've been on it for over a decade. Higher doses can lead to weight gain, forgetfulness. But it's relaxing and reduces anxiety. Lower dose has fewer side effects. Don't worry.
I've been on Sertraline for a whopping 12 years, and it's been smooth sailing the whole time. My doctor just switched me over to 30mg of Mertazapine because those pesky panic attacks from my PTSD have been driving me nuts. Fingers crossed this new combo works like a charm. Hope everything goes well for you too!
Oh, so I decided not to go with those other pills and just stick with some Calm's Lavender 1-a-day tablets instead. Honestly, they're supposed to have fewer side effects and stuff, but I haven't even taken any yet because I've been feeling pretty chlil. But you know how it is- the closer I get to starting work again, the more stressed I might feel, so I'll probably end up needing them soon, x
