Hey there, I thnk the withdrawal symptoms will get better eventually. How have you been doing since stopping them?
Ugh, totally not feeling great right now. Teh worst are the muscle aches, brain zaps, and blurry vision-so annoying. My mood is pretty much the same as usual though. This morning I was tempted to give in and take a pill but hey, I'm gonna push through it for as long as I can.
Oh man, that sounds rough, honestly. You'd think GPs would be more knowledgeable about these things, but sometimes they just aren't in the loop, you know? They can really push u to come off your meds too fast, and it's super important to take it slow-like, really, really slow.
Which one are we talking about here? I remember venlafaxine and mirtazapine need a particularly careful tapering process,so that's something to keep in mind.
escitalopram for like 15yrs. figured a 6wk lower dose would still have an effect but not this bad 😟
I see. Six weeks doesn't seem like enugh time if you go from full dose to none. I've heard that taking a couple of months at a reduced dose might be necessary for each step down.
If your tablets aren't prolonged release, you could cut them up to make the tapering process slower than just reducing by tablet increments.
For example, with mirtazapine, someone went from one 15mg tablet to three-quarters, then half, and finally a quarter over about a year.
I hope you feel better soon. It can be really tough coming off medication, and it takes the brain some time to adjust.
Hey there, just wanted to say thanks for the nice comments. honestly, I think you're right-it does make more sense to spread things out over a longer timeframe. I'll definitely chat with my GP about it all. Appreciate your input super much! Cheers, x
15 years vs 6 weeks? It's a massive shift for your body, honestly, kinda like trying to quit any other drug addiction. Your body will resist and you might feel pretty awful during withdrawal-like hitting rock bottom but over and over again. I'm glad you're doing this with some medical supervision though. If it ever feels too much to handle, don't hesitate to chat with your GP about it. Also, maybe try calming the mind with meditation or join an exercise group? That could help a bit.
they rly pass after being on them for years. i've been on mine since forever and now it's just one tab a day at the min dose. if u need more my wife helps out with an extra mini dose.
i've had meds for decades, and when reducing them wasn't too bad, but doses were set. sometimes fam can help watch meds, if not u gotta be strong and move on drug free. u seem to handle it well
