Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone here gets PIP because of depression and anxiety. It's really hard for me, as it affects my work and lots of other areas of life. I'm just trying to fgiure out what might help. Thanks so much!

Thanks for getting back to me! I guess there's not mcuh to lose. I've tried stuff lie this before, but for different issues-my mental health has really taken a nosedive over the last year. This tie, though, I'm going to make sure I actually follow through and get the help I need wiht those forms-promise.

Needed help so bad I ended up having a meltdown and spilled everything to the health workers-I was stuck in a psych unit for a few weeks but it was necessary. Just hoping you can sort things out before hitting rock bottom like I did. If you ever do, give that crisis team a call-they don't leave you hanging for long, maybe a couple of hours max-and once you start talking, help is on its way. It took me forever to reach out-more like fell apart-but please don't wait as long as I did if you're struggling. Sending good vibes and hoping your mental health improves!

Thanks for getting back to me! Sorry to hear you've been dealing with some tough stuff too. It's really rough when the mind just won't let you do normal things, right? I find it hard to even step out of my house sometimes. And this has been going on for years-every day is like trying to keep a lid on something that's ready to explode. A family thing recently made everything worse; I'm just not equipped to handle any more stress or upset. Next week, though, I have an appointment with a mental health nurse at my GP practice. Thanks again for your words-they realy mean a lot. Hoping things are looking up for you too, sending lots of virtual hugs!

just went through pip for my son who's dealing with anxiety, depresion, and probs autism. we sent all the stff we had but cuz he has a hard tiem expressing his feelings, they said there was no real proof of anything so he got refused pip. but bc of his mental health issues he did get the highest rate of universal credit.
the universal credit mental health form is way worse tho b/c it caused my son to have a meltdown and end up in hospital. but it's more detailed than pip so might wanna try for higher rate universal credit 4 ur anxiety and depression first, then go for pip later. hope this helps lol

Thank you for your response. It's unfortunate to hear that it became overwhelming for your son; the process can be very stressful. I am currently on the waiting list for an assessment of suspected adult Autism. Your information about applying for universal Credit due to mental health issues is helpful-I did not know this was possible. I am currently receiving ESA in the support group, and I will definitely look into it.

I'm on ESA for epilepsy, and honestly, do you get the severe disability premium? It's supposed to bump up your ESA if you're on it plus PIP but without having a carer involved. That'd be way better than universal credit-more money overall. But then my son moved in, adn I lost that premium-I'm dowwn about 400 pounds a month, whereas he only got like a 300 pound bump-up. Feels pretty unfair, you know?

You don't neeed SDP if you're not on PIP.

Yeah, definitely look into pip if you're on ESA. Make sure you've got all the medical proof of how rough your days are and how it impacts your daily life-cooking, eating, drinking, getting dressed, taking a shower, even going to the bathroom. They move faster now with the forms, usually about three months, and then you get an answer.

Thanks a bunch! I'm gonna reeach out to Citizens Advice for some help with these pesky forms-honestly, I could use all the assistance I can get right now.

I think I get the maximum PIP payments too because of my mental health stuff.
