Maybe medication help forum?
Hey there, I was just given Venlafaxine at 37.5 mg and Mirtazapine at 15 mg. I've used mirtazapine before but never Venlafaxine, so I'm a bit unsure. Has anyone tried this combo? Any tips or experiences to share?

Just follow what your doctor says and give it about five weeks to see how things go-patience is key here
Hi,
I take both and find them really helpful too. I think 37.5 mg is a pretty low dose of venlafaxine since the max can go up to 375 mg-that's ten times as much! The dose usually depends on how your body processes it, so some peolpe might need more if they break down the medication faster and others less if their metabolism is slower.
It mainly affects serotonin below 225mg but starts impacting noradrenaline above that level. I've heard venlafaxine has a really good reputation and there's plenty of research showing it's one of the better antidepressants out there.
I hope it works well for you, but if not, there are definitely other options to consider too. Let us know how things go, okay?
Take care,
X
Thanks! Fingers crossed for dell-I'm kind of losing hope though.
Same here, sucks. Hope you feel better soon.
Venlafaxine might need more than one dose adjustment to work. Its effect is pretty dose-dependent unlike mst other antidepressants
Thank you. I have not received the prescription yet because my doctor is waiting for a letter from the mental health team.
Sorry to hear this happened. It kind of turned me into a zombie and really bummed me out, so I had to quit using it. Feeling way better now without it though. My friend takes Venlafaxine and says it works great for them.
