Maybe switching from sertraline to mirtazipine?

Hi,

I recently changed from mirtazipine to sertraline, and I think maybe this wasn't such a good idea. The side effects from sertraline are really bad-nausea, diarrhea, adn even worse anxiety. I'm not sure if it's worth going back to mirtazipine. I'm having a hard time and have been out of work because of these side effects.

I mean, how long have you been on the sertraline, anyway? I was on it for like 4-5 years myself.

Hey there,

I used to be on this med for a solid 15 years before suddenly stopping nine months ago. Last September 2022, my doc put me on mirtazipine and slowly ramped up the dose to 30mg. Long story short-I felt way better on sertraline. I switched back in early December adn have been at 50mg for four weks now. Honestly, I'm having a rough time with side effects and seriously considering going back to mirtazipine!

Yeah, totally agree. I stopped taking Sert for a similar period too. When I fnally got insured again and restarted it, it felt like it wasn't doing anything at all. No big side effects or anything, but my body just developed a tolerance to it. (I was kinda bummed out about that one.)

Hi there, I had a similar experience-tried one dose of sertraline but decided against it in the end and went back to mirtazapine instead.

Hey there! Can you tll me what dose of mirtazapine you started on? I was on 30mg for about a month but it didn't seem to do the trick like sertraline did before. Fingers crossed that sertraline starts kicking in soon-I'm dealing with some rough side effects right now, like no appetite and feeling nauseous all the time. I've been taking meds just to deal with the nuasea, and man, it's hard to keep going. Lost a lot of work days too, and I only started at my current job recently. If this keeps up, they might just let me go...

Hey there, I was wondering if you could give me the lowdown on any side effects you had with Sertraline? Honestly, I've beeen dealing with PoTS, along with severe anxiety and agoraphobia, and it's pretty rough being stuck in bed all day. Anyway, my doc thinks a course of Sertraline might help, but i'm super hesitant because i've read some scary stuff about the drug. Plus, i've always tried to stick to more natural remedies instead of jumping into medications right away. I'd really appreciate hearing what you experienced with it-thanks so mcuh!

Hi there, I think this medication has really bad side effects for me. It works well after you get used to it, but the first two to four weeks are tough. I've been experiencing higher anxiety, nausea, and loss of appetite. I'm just entering my fourth week now and it's been pretty rough

You know, I heard you're supposed to get a generic blood test these days. It really helps figure out the right antidepressant for you, so here's hoping it goes well!

Genetic test, yeah?

Hi there! My doc said it wasn't accurate enough to order and even insurance won't cover it, so that's a no-go.

I've tried different medications in this area, and I think Mirtazipine is the only one that works for me, but it affects my sex drive a lot.

I tried sertraline before, and oh boy, those side effects were a nightmare-especially if I took the pill without water on an empty stomach. Yikes! After getting medical consent, I switched to fluoxetine, and honestly, it feels much better to me. There are plenty of other options out there too, but talking to your psychiatrist is probably a smart move.
