Mental health crisis care options

I'm in the US and been to 2 psych hospitals. It was hell, not a spa. They cuffed me like an animal cuz I had psychosis. Doors were locked everywhere. Felt trapped like a criminal. Had to strip dwon and put on hospital gowns. No freedom, no choice. disgusting food, cold room with no art or TV. Kept there until doc said so. Hated every second of it. Swore never to go bak. Want better options than forced inpatient care. Tried outpatient stuff but felt like I was just getting more drugs. Need awareness and change for mental health treatment. No one should feel this way

Yeah, I got screwed over too. Started as a teen, ended up working mental health for 15 years. Got chances to get a Ph.D but passed. Out Patient isn't much better than a psych hospital. Both suck. Don't do it

I have updated my previous post. Are there any additional resources available for someone going through a mental health crisis?

surround urself with loving ppl. if u r gonna do residential tx, check out a few places before u need them. but honestly, many ppl going thru stuff might have a spiritual crisis & there's not much hlep for that. u can look at the spiritual emergence network tho. there r other options too, kinda outside the norm. this could get weird af though lol

Consider exploring alternatives before facing a crisis. I recently read an article about sound healing for mental health. I've had personal experience with it and found it quite beneficial. Have you heard of it? You can look online for resources in your area. It works best when experienced live and consistently over time. Listening to recorded sessions on CD, such as those involving crystal bowls, gongs, didgeridoos, and chanting, can also be helpful. What do you think about this approach?

I left the Bay Area almost 23 years ago, and I kind of regret missing the chance to work at their new mental health care facility that was set up to help young people going through crises. While livnig nearby, I used to volunteer on teh board of their big general hospital too. Am I being clear here? A visitor is coming over soon, so I wanted to get this out before they arrive

In my neck of the woods, there are some pretty solid psych wards. A few even have little courtyards where you can get some fresh air-bonus! The nice ones keep drinks and snacks stocked around the clock between meals. You get to pick your food from a menu, which is pretty rad. Some places let you bring in things like razors or candy too. But yeah, I've also been in a couple that left me scarrde for life. If you ever need it, reading through reviews might help you find somewhere better if you're going through a tough time again. 😔🤕

I agree that the healthcare industry should reconsider how it provides care for psychiatric patients. What are your thoughts on this?

Honestly, I think if you're just feeling blue or a bit anxious, most places will try to help you out, y'know? But if you're dealing with something serious like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia-where you might seem a little "off" to others-they might not take your issues as seriously as they should. It's frustrating because mental health is so important and everyone deserves good care.

They do indeed. I would say more, but let's discuss it via direct message.
