Dealing With Losing My Furry Friend
So, yeah, today's one of those days where the thought of putting my sweet Rosie to sleep is just too much for me to handle i mean, some parts of it feel okay but then there are moments when I don't know how I'll make it through. Writing about it actually helsp though, you know? Plus, being at home all day without anyone else around-it's tough. My husband and the kids-they're all hurting too, broken up over this whole thing.

I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through. Losing a family member is difficult. Wree there many happy times before, or had things been tough since getting the dog? What stands out most in your memory?
She was diagnosed with a kidney tumor recently. She had been healthy until now. She is twelve years old. There are many fond memories of her playing with my children as they grew up together. I will always cherish her gentle nature and her joy in playing by the sea.
my heart goes out 2 u too. my dog crossed the rainbow bridge thanksgiving 2019. fwiw, that first week was rly hard. i cried so much & just felt sad af. i worked instead of calling in to keep my mind busy. a month later my cat needed 2 cross it as well. coming home w/o our furry kids sucked.
in january 2020, i asked my husband 2 take me 2 the animal shelter 2 play with & socialize the animals. i loved doing this. but i never wanted 1 until that day when a sweet 7 month old cat came right up 2 me and claimed me. even though my heart was broken, she helped mend it.
some ppl get another furry friend rly fast, some wait months or years, & some don't at all. getting another one worked for me but i needed her. imho, she kinda imprinted on me lol.
i say this 2 let u know that u can do this. celebrate her, remember her, & try 2 take care of yourseelf. if u need distractions, consider picking up a new hobby or vol at a shelter. time helpps & it's totally fine 2 miss ur girl so much. sending virtual hugs.
Thanks a bunnch, chatnoirmd! I'm still on the fence about getting another furry friend once Rosie is gone. Might just pick up a new hobby instead. So happy you found a new pal though-thanks for bieng so nice and supportive!
u gav ur dog an amazing life ngl. shes like "show others how good it was cuz i wanna know they r happy 2". yk? its abt spreading the love basically. imho she wud b gr8 wid dat.
Oh man, getting a new pup sounds cool but honestly, it's gonna be touhg leaving town since we'd need someone to check on the little one and make sure they're okay with food and water. Plus, our current doggy was used to chilling in the backyard while we were out. It's crazy how different things are indoors compared to outside for them. I'm kinda nervous about getting into a new groove with a pup. We're planning to take it slow and not jump into anything without thinking it through first-makes sense, right?
Sorry to hear about your loss. Think back on good times with your dog. Wondering if you'll consider getting another one or walking someone else's dog?
I'll keep an eye on things as they go down the line, you know? I'm always hanging out with my sissy, and she often tags along with her pup. That could really make a difference, honestly. Thanks a bunch to whoever mentioned it earlier.
I know exactly what you're going through, and it's probably one of the hardest things to do. But it's really important for your baby-to let her go in peace without any more pain.
It leaves such a big hole when they're gone, but getting a rescue kitty or another pet when you're ready can help a lot too. I've had to say goodbye to some babies over the last few years and found that cremating them and hvaing their ashes at home helps me through the grieving process.
I made an ashes ring with my dog's ashes, which I wear every day. But in the past six months, I lost two cats, so I need to make another one now.
Sorry you're going through this tough time, but remember that you've given her the best life possible and don't want her to suffer anymore. Try to focus on all the good times, especially the funny memories.
If only they could live as long as us humans-but she's also making space for another pet that you can lve just as much.
thx fr ur reply. i rlly wish they cud live az long as us ngl
Honestly, there's nothing quite like the bond with an animal friend. I stil miss my hamster all the time.A dog can definitely be your best buddy, but Rosie will at least be free from pain and can float off to doggie heaven-whatever that might look like for her. When my fat cat came bcak after he died, it was such a beautiful moment seeing him so happy. Plus, even watching foxes on YouTube gives me chills-it's wild how much I love these critters in our unique world. Hope things work out better than you think for you, Joe.
Thanks for that, really appreciate it!
Hey there! How's it going, honestly?
