Eye appointment this week

Wednesday! I'm heading to the clinic for my second cataract removal. The surgery itself only takes about 15 minutes, which feels like a good deal considering it's an outpatient procedure and I'll be home in time for dinner. Driving round-trip is around 130 miles, but honestly, the distance isn't what matters-it's having my sight restored that counts.

I had the first operation on my other eye about six weeks ago, and let me tell you, it's been fantastic. My vision has improved so much I can finally see all those tiny dust bunnies under my bed without squinting!

But yeah, my right eye is getting pretty blurry these days, so I'm eager to get back into the clinic. Back soon-fingers crossed!

That's awesome, I think! It sounds like you've been working really hard on it, and I'm happy to hear that things are going well for you.

Wow, Fabulous Bob! It's great that you're seeing clearly now. I've been thinking about getting my vision fixed too, but with Ménière's disease, lying flat is a no-go for me. The dizziness hits pretty hard when I tilt my head the wrong way, so I'm not sure how realistic it is to get mine done anytime soon. Fingers crossed for you!

I guess this is a reply in the thread. So, they have these operating seats where you sit and get some initial treatment like eye drops-Jane, I think that's what happens first. Then you're taken to a surgery room for more stuff, maybe focusing on reducing pain.

After that, you're brought into the operating theatre. Your face gets covered with something if the seat can't recline properly. There's this plastic sheet with a hole in it so they can work on your eye safely. They give you another injection-I think it's multiple shots.

You stay awake for teh opeation and all you see is bright lights as they do their thing. It doesn't take more than twenty minutes, I guess. You keep an eye patch and some dressings on until morning-take thme off before breakfast.

Before starting the op, someone in reception will check how you're feeling and maybe help with your positioning to make sure everything's comfortable. The next day, you can use the operated eye but keep it covered when sleeping so you don't rub it accidentally.

You'll be surprised at how mcuh better your eye is afterward. There's not really a lot of pain involved, I think.

It'll matter, for sure.

Yeah, I'm seeing some serious improvement within a day or so after the op on the first eye. It's aiming for 20/20 and seems pretty close, especially with thse awesome colors. The transplant was mostly for distance vision, which is perfect because now I can binge-watch TV all night long if I want. Next up is the second eye for reading and other stuff-can't wait to see how that goes!
Thanks everyone!
