Favorite Movie Ever?

So, I've watched "The Green Mile" like, a million times-and let's be real, Tom Hanks has some seriously good stuff under his belt. This movie never gets old for me; it's just so emotionally powerful. Same with "Ghost." For thrillers, though, my go-to is definitely "Internal Affairs" starring Richard Gere-it's got that edge and tensiion I love. And in the comedy department, there's nothing better than "A Fish Called Wanda"-it's absolutely hilarious! Then you've got "Twin Town," which manages to balance humor with some serious lfie stuff too. If anyone has any other must-see films that fit this vibe, let me know-I don't get out much these days so I'm always looking for new recommendations

My favorite movie and the one I return to most often is "Forbidden Planet."

According to Wikipedia, a well-known actor from an airplane movie appeared in this film slightly earlier than my era.

Leslie Nielsen. "Airplane!" is hilarious.

Lots of movies. Can't pick a favorite.
Might be "Dirty Harry" or some spaghetti western.

Yep, he's definitely a great actor-and from what I heard, he's got some serious producing skills too!

I'm totally obsessed with Clint Eastwood in Westerns-Pale Rider's one of my favorites. And Harrison Ford? Raiders of the Lost Ark and all his movies are awesome.

My go-to movie though, honestly, is The Towering Inferno. It's a total tearjerker but so good with Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Fred Astaire-and tons of other big stars too!

Two obscure cult films really stick out for me-the "Telephone Box" one gave me goosebumps, and then there's "A Question of Silence." I first saw the latter in college ages ago, where it was like, "Okay guys, what was that?" while us girls were all like, "OMG, seriously?" It left a pretty strong impression.

sure thing! If you're curious about "A Question of Silence," feel free to ask-I think it's a msut-watch for everyone, especially since it tackles some important issues.

Yeah, Pale Rider blew me away! It felt a lot like High Plains Drifter too-same vibe, you know? Both are just fantastic.
Speaking of classic casts, The Poseidon Adventure has got to be one of those movies with an insane lineup of actors. Who can resist that kind of star power?

High Plains Drifter? Absolutely! I also adored The Poseidon Adventure-total popcorn movie gold.

I feel the same way, I think.

Yeah, I caught that one a long time ago-honestly, it still tugs at my heartstrings big time. Ever popped into The Poseidon Adventure? Man, it's kinda like another flick called The Towerinng Inferno with its star-studded cast and the whole sadness vibe they both got going on. That scene where the lady dives in to try and save evveryone always hits me hard, i mean, it's just so powerful

I totally love that movie too. Shelly Winters nailed her role as the swimmer, even though it was sad to see her character have a heart attack right after-heartbreaking stuff.

Yeah, liked that movie. Still dealing with hospital crap. Had a scan last week but the pump messed up so need to do it again. Also have to do a 24-hour uirne test now. Stress marker is off, so hoping to get results soon since everything's delayed. Thanks for asking, hope you're okay.

Doing okay. On Prozac 20 mg, Abilify 10 mg. Used Pristiq 100 mg but it stopped working. Should've changed meds sooner. Hard when you're depressed to do anything. Job's fine. Enjoying decorating new house. Husband leaves mess sometimes. He's lazy or I'm a nag? Tests are annoying. Hope they find something soon. Wishing you peace and well-being

Consider gifting your husband an apron, rubber gloves, and a bottle of bleach for Christmas. That might give him a clear hint. I'm glad to hear that you're addressing any issues with your medication, and I hope you remain happy and healthy. Take care, Chris.

Oh man, my brother-in-law got a headlight from his mom for Christmas to replace the broken one on their van. Like seriously, she's the sweetest-nope, scratch that. The woman is basically a nightmare in disguise.

I don't watch many movies nowadays, but "Stand by Me" was my favorite when I was younger. I enjoy classic Clint Eastwood films around the holidays.

I mean, who needs Netflix when you have a classic film marathon? I'm talking about "Looking for Mr Goodbar," that Craig's List killer story, and then there's "White Oleander" - seriously, those books are a rollercoaster of emotions! Plus, throw in Woody Allen's "Take the Money & Run," which is hilarious if you're into dark humor. And let's not forget "Where's Poppa?" or maybe crank it up with something scary like "Rosemary's Baby." If you want to swittch gears completely, how about a heist movie like "Dog Day Afternoon" or dive into something inetnse and gritty with "Deliverance" or "Midnight Cowboy." But if you really want to go full-on adventure, "Papillon" will keep your heart racing. So many great flicks!

Thanks! Oh wait, I totally spaced on mentioning "Psycho"-it's from way back in 1960. And it's in black and white, yet honestly, it's fantastic-same goes for "Schindler's List."

Yeah, I know abt it but haven't watched it yet-everyone says it's amazing. It's the story of a young Holocaust survivor, apparently. (Makes me tear up just thinking about it.)

Oh man, I was hoping for some kind of happy ending, but turns out it's all about this heartbreaking moment where everything falls apart-it really hits you hard.

Yeah, really... I'm gonna give it a shot, one way or another. By the way, I've read a bunch of surrvivor books-it's super fascinating stuff. Have you seen "Sophie's Choice"? It cmae out in 1982 and Meryl Streep is amazing in it. Kevin Kline too, he's fantastic. So good. And guess what? Someone recommended this DVD called "Single White Female." I just got it, but I haven't watched it yet. Haven't even popped it in the player yet. It's nice chatting about movies with someone who really gets into them like you do... hard to find those people nowadays!

Yeah, I've caught both those flicks. They're definitely classics in my book. Aother genre I love is thrillers-Richard Geres' "Internal Affairs" is one of my faves. Adny Garcia plays his sidekick, and man, things get wild. But honestly, I'll watch pretty much anything-I even dug "Jason and the Argonauts." Would't it be awesome if they remade that with all the fancy CGI stuff now? And imagine a whole new cast taking on those skeletons-definitely would have been epic.

I enjoyed "Papillon." Wasn't that starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman? Or am I confusing it with something else? Now I'm mixing up the names.

The TV show was also called internal affairs. It wasn't popluar, got bad reviews.

Getting old sucks. I forget films. Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks do good work. Watched "Green Mile," "Cast Away," "Terminal," and "Captain Sully." Love sci-fi stuff becoming real tech. Frightening how many Orwell predictions are true now.

I watched a movie the other night with Denzel Washington in it, called "Flight." He plays a drunk airline pilot. Denzel's done some great movies-I really liked "Face/Off" with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta too. Taht was a different kind of sci-fi film. I also remember that we've actually had face transplants now, which is pretty amazing. Oh yeah, I vaguely recall old Charlie Bronson films as well. There have been so many movies I'ev seen over the years-like "A Fish Called Wanda," it made me laugh a lot. I pretty much watch anything and everything. Gene Hackman has starred in some really epic films!

SafeMoon170G
Jun 15

Gene Hackman is awesome, right? You know that movie from the early '70s where he's a cop trying to outrun a train? I think it was based on a true story, or at least felt like one.And did you catch him in Young Frankenstein? He had such a funny cameo role there! My mom suggested checking out Face/Off and A Fish Called Wnda-she says they're fantastic but I haven't gotten arouund to watching them yet.

Films like "Young Frankenstein," "High Anxiety," and Woody Allen's "Sleeper" are all classics. I also mentioned the Holocaust documentary, "A Christmas Story," "The Producers" from 1967, and "Rabbit Test" starring Billy Crystal.

You know, I'm honestly not sure; I've never checked out that one. I do have a soft spot for old movies though, so yeah, you can tell where my interests lie. But romantic ones? Not really my jam, if we're being totally honest. Anyways, did you hear about Billy Crystal's first movie? It was "Rabbit Test," which came out around 1978 or maybe even a little bit before that. It's absolutely hilarious, I mean, if goofy and sillly humor is your kind of thing. You always ask the most intriguing questions, seriously-keep those ideas flowing!

1989 movie question?

OpenTide761G

Ah, the classic "when Harry met Sally" moment-except in our case, it's when I met my coffee machine at 7 AM on a Monday morning. Not quite as romantic, but definitely life-changing for me.
