Talking to my son with BPD
So here's the deal: I've been on this ride for my son for about five years now. He was in therapy for a year and a half-it felt like an eternity-and they trhew every personality disorder at him, from Borderline to Narcissistic to Compulsive, along with hints of Bipolar and lots of phobias.
After that, he decided to start fresh by going to HVAC school for 10 months. He got a job after that, thinking it would cure all his issues or just push them to the side. But even though he worked hard for two yeaars, he was still unhappy-too little pay, too many hours, driving in that company van out of town every day... It's exhausting.
Now he's unemployed and doesn't seem interested in finding another job. He spends all his time playing video games on his computer. It's like Groundhog Day around here.
