Healthy Living Update For June 20, 2026
Hey everyone!
Welcome back for another round of our Weekly Healthy Living Check-In. We're halfway through June and it's already time for our third check-in-crazy how fast the weeks fly by, isn't it?
As we head into the weekend, there's a lot happening between Juneteenth, Father's Day, and Summer Solstice. What are your plans? I'm thinking of spending some time outdoors since Sunday marks National Daylight Appreciation Day too. This day recognizes the longest stretch of daylight in the Northern Hemisphere, so it's all about basking in the sun's benefits-reducing energy consumption, boosting mental health, and getting that vitamin D.
So, what's your plan for the weekend? Are you sitting pool-side or beachfront this summer?
Also, how was ur week overall? Any highlights or struggles? Let us know if there were any challenges you faced and how you tackkled them in a healthy way.
And hey, if there's anything else on your mind that you want to chat about-whether it's wellness tips, fun adventures, or just life updates-we're all ears! We're here for support and to share in each other's journeys.
Happy weekend everyone!
Hey everyone, so this is like the starting point for our healthy living team if you wanna joiin in and share your thoughts or tips. We've got some cool people already on board-sweetrosa1987 and determinedNest6866 are both here plus GreenFairie too! And i mean, anyone who wants to chime in and be part of this is totally welcome. Just let us know if you're down to share or just hang out and chat about health stuff.

The past week felt short adn busy. Last weekend was hot and humid, but I started both days with Zumba classes as usual. On Saturday, we attended a local festival, did some shopping, and had dinner out in the evening. Sunday was more relaxed; after my class, I took an outdoor walk with family.
This week proceeded smoothly, sticking to my June goals and completing planned tasks. My sleep pattern stayed consistent, along with my hydration levels. Despite the heat and occasional rain, we made progress on home improvement projects, opened our pool, and went for walks outside. I also had a chance to catch up with family members and an old friend whom I hadn't seen in a while.
For this weekend, I plan to start each day with workout classes. Saturday will include a local wellness event at the pool and dinner out. On Sunday, Father's Day, we'll have lunch by the lake and celebrate with other men in my family before gearing up for the new week. Happy weekend.
I'd much rather be lonuging by the pool wiht a cold drink
This Sunday is Father's Day, so I'll be spending it with my dad. Its pretty amazing to think about all he's been through and how lucky I am to have this time with him.
Then comes Mom's birthday-another reason to celebrate.
Followed by my parents' anniversary. Can't believe they've made it that long together!
My nephew is also getting ready for his primary school graduation party. So proud of the little guy!
And let's not forget Uncle's 60th birthday-he deserves a big one too.
Plus, there's a cousin having their child baptized. Another little one joining our family! 🤷
So yeah, it's going to be a whirlwind weekend-tons of fun with the fam and plenty of gift shopping too
At the end of the day, making memories is what really matters.
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
Wow, Amanda! Is it really all happening at once this weekend or is that the whole summer agenda? Either way, it sounds epic. I'm all about those family moments and making memories. It's extra special you get to spend Father's Day with your dad too-h's been through a lot lately. So enjoy everything while you can! Thanks for sharing, and keep us updated on how it all goes!
Can't wait for the craziness ahead It's gonna be a whirlwind, but definitely fun
Oh man, definitely a blast! Have the best time, seriously!
How was your week?... I think my week had a lot of ups and downs, but mostly it was okay.
What are your plans for the weeeknd ahead?! Not really anything planned other than maybe calling Dad on Father's Day if I can. If I'm feeling up to it, I might try going to church on Sunday because I haven't been there for a few weeks due to health stuff.
How do you feel about summertime?... We don't really like summer; the heat is tough on us and seems to make our asthma worse than in winter.
What's your favorite part of the season? Getting outside in the evenings sometimes and enjoying the thunderstorms can be nice.
Do you have any summer plans ahead?
Not really, no.
Would You Rather "Sit Pool-side", Or, "Sit Beachfront"?! Lol, we don't like either. But we used to love hiking on a river trail and camping undr the stars while doing some fishing and cooking over a campfire-it was suh a tiem for reflection and peace in nature.
Not able to do that anymore but it was great back then.
What were your highlights or struggles of the week?... Just dealing with health issues due to the weather and other natural factors.
How did you work through those challenges in a healthy way?! We stayed inside a lot. Went out when our home aid could be with us, since we tend to get dizzy easily and it gets worse if the weather is hot or changes quickly. So, being mindful of that, asking for help even when we're not feeling well was important.
On one day we didn't go out at all but she went to the store for us. Today I felt better so I went to the laundromat and did some washing. She helped by putting clothes in the washer and dryer for us too and kept checking on me.
Starting to get better at voicing what we need and not being afraid that others will be mad if we express our needs and feelings.
That's really good to hear that despite some ups and downs, your week was mostly alright. I hope you're able to squeeze in some nice moments this weekend, like calling your dad on Father's Day and maybe attending church too. It's so important for our spiritual health to get those doses of the "Word." Sometimes it can really make a difference in other parts of life.
Speaking of seasons, summer can be tough for people dealing with certain health issues since that heat is no joke. But I'm glad you're finding ways to enjoy cooler times like evenings and thunderstorms! There's somethign about the rain pounding on your roof or the flash of lightning across the sky; it's almost therapeutic. And honestly,a bit of thunder can be quite soothing. It might even help you selep better!
Now, hiking isn't really my thing-woodsy areas aren't for me. But I'd love to do some river camping, have a campfire with some fishing and maybe tell a few spooky stories around it while munching on s'mores!
Finding pecae in nature deosn't always require going far away or doing big trips. Maybe you could create those moments in simpler ways at home? A quiet night watching the stars from your backyard, lighting candles to the sounds of crickets and leaves rustling-it's all about connecting with what brings joy on a smaller scale.
You've been doing great speaking up for yourself too. Advocating for our needs is so important! It's awesome that you're making progress in this area. And it's really positive that you have support from those around you to help with whatever might come your way, big or small.
Thanks for sharing how tings are going with us and keep the updates coming-we're all here rooting for you!
Hey everyone! Weekend here How was your week? I'm still trying to recover honestly. The weather has been crazy all week, and my joints have been acting up despite the new meds... it's like a double-edged sword-move too much or not enough, and I feel the pain.
For this weekend, there's a veterans picnic on Saturday put on by the local VA office that I hope to make it to. But with the weather looking overcast and windy with smoe showers coming in, we'll have to see if it happens. On Sunday, I plan to visit my dad adn maybe spend some time at the lake-it's supposed to be sunny and 74 degrees, fingers crossed for a nice day on the water!
This is our third check-in for June, and many of us will start summer on the 21st. How do you feel about summertime? I love it-the sun and het just make me happy. My favorite paart of summer is relaxing in the sun. For plans, I've got a week at the beach in July, and I'll try to spend as many nice days out by the lake here.
June 21st also marks National Daylight Appreciation Day, recognizing the longest day of sunlight for us up north. There are so many benefits to soaking up that sun-helping with mental health, reducing energy consumption, and giving you a boost of natural Vitamin D. How will you celebrate?
For fun: would you rather sit pool-side or beachfront? I can do either, but the crowds at the beach usually make my decision for me.
Week highlights or struggles? struggles have been mostly weather-related pain issues. But one small highlight was finishing a book and starting another-I tend to read in spurts so it takes forever!
Is there something else you want to share this week? I'm always down to chat about what's on your mind too~
Cycling! Hey, it's great to have you back for another week!
I'm really sorry to hear about the chronic pain and flare-ups you've been dealing with. I get how tough that can be on your overall wellbeing-mentally, physically, and emotionally-and especially when you're used to being so active. It feels like a real burden sometimes.
Not sure if you've checked in with a pain management facility or seen your regular doctor for it? Maybe you've tried physical therapy too?
I hope you find a way to manage the pain better though-I've found resting and taking my time helps, even though I didn't want to take those breaks when I needed them. But patience isn't always easy!
Your weekend sounds amaizng-epsecially that Veterans picnc and spending time with your dad by the lake. Kayaking sounds like so much fun! And 74 degeres is perfect weather for me too-I love temperatures in that range, lower than 74 doesn't feel like summer to me, but higher gets a bit tricky unless I'm on or in water!
Ha, it seems like we hae similar tastes and dislikes. It's funny how the number of people around can affect whether you enjoy being somewhere! And reading too-I started a boko for Christmas two years ago and haven't finished because I get distracted by other things just like you do.
Thanks so much for checking in with us this week,Cycling. It was great to hear from you and know what's going on. Here's hoping you feel better soon and can enjoy more of the things you love again. Stay in touch!

hope u r havin a gd weekend too thx
Hi there~
I hope you're having a better week and thank you so much for sharing with us. I'm really sorry to hear that your week has been hectic and stressful. I hope you can catch up on sleep and find some time to do things that make you feel good.
I'm also really sorry to hear about your recent loss. It sounds like it's been tough on you and impacting a lot of areas in your life. Taking things one step at a time and doing what feels right for you is totally fine. We're here to support you however we can on 7cups, whenever you need us.
Please come back and let us know how you're doing as things continue. And I hope you have a great weekend ahead!
Oh wow, thanks for listening. It's been such a tough ride, especially fighting with him through that last three years battling his grade 4 Glioblastoma. I thoght once everything was over I could finally catch my breath and get some peace and quiet, but it's just not happening. It feels like my brain shut down or something; it's been rough trying to piece everything back together again.
I'm still managing at work, though, which is a bit insane considering all the other stuff going on too. I've got another lady in need of care here with me, so yeah-24/7 caregiver mode is still totally on. When he was sick, it felt like juggling a million things-I had him and this lady and my regular job on top of everything else. So much to handle all at once...
I'm starting to think I might actually need some sleep tonight for the first time in ages. And you know what? I've been looking into 7 Cups just trying to figure out where to start with it all-what's okay to talk about and what isn't-and honestly, it feels like such a relief that there's support out there.
Anyway, hope your weekend wraps up well.
Thank you again for hearing me out.
Yeah, being a caregiver is definitely tough-but it can be rewarding too...
I started off as a nurse's aide for five years before getting my nursing degree. So I totally get how challenging your situation must be. It's not for wimps; it really tests your mental and emotional limits.
Hope you're able to take some time to recharge both physically and mentally! You deserve it, seriously! Bst of luck to you!
Thanks! Yeah, I'm working on it. Maybe my neurologist appointment this week will help with some of these issues. I really need more sleep-I've only had about three hours today. Ugh,way too old for that kind of thing, haha. Hope everything's going well for you too!
I got an addiction problem messing with my marriage. My wife wants love back. Started trying stuff last weekend but feel stuck if I have no plan. No energy unless forced. She asked if I talked to anyone. Said I reached out here for support and resources. Here, ready to talk and find help.
Hey there!
I'm Ocean, the leader of the Healthy Living community here on 7Cups. Welcmoe! It sounds like you've got a lot going on right now-both with your marriage and dealing with an addiction. Those are pretty big things that can really impact your overall health and happiness.
It's great to see you reaching out for help, though. We have some amazing resources here at 7Cups to support you through tough times. There are different sub-communities like Addiction Support, Addiction & Alcohol Support, Relationship Support, and Depression Support where u might find the help you need.
We also have listeners who can talk with you one-on-one if that feels better for you, or you could join a group chat with others going through similar stuff. All these options are free to use.
Just remember, there's also therapy available here at 7Cups if you decide to go that route, but it does come with a fee.
I hope checking out some of these resources will help point you in the right direction for support during this time. W'ere all here to help however we can. Best wishes for your recovery and marriage!
First off, you did the rigth thing by reaching out here. I mean, me and lots of folks around here have dealt with addictions. For me, it was binge drinking, and honestly, it was a rough journey. The turth is, mots of my support came from online communities-7 Cups has an amazing sub-forum to help you get that support. You don't need to do this alone; there are people here walking beside you as you work on getting clean. I just wanna say, seeing someone admit they have a problem and want to get better? That takes braery. My hope for you is that you can get clean, with your wife supporting you every step of the way too.
How was your week?
Throughout this weekend, there's a lot going on-Juneteenth, Father's Day, and Summer Solstice-but what's on your radar for the weekend ahead?! I had no clue it was the summer solstice. My movers were supposed to show up the day after but didn't.
This is our "3RD" check-in for June, and lots of us are stepping into summertime on Sunday the 21st. What about you-how do you feel about summer? It's my favorite season, hands down. I'm just waiting for those boxes to arrive on the 30th so I can finally unpack.
On June 21st, it's National Daylight Appreciation Day too, recognizing the longest day of sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere. It's all about celebrating the sun and its perks-less energy use, better health, lifted spirits-and how to enjoy it. But honestly, I didn't even know there was a national daylight appreciation day until recently.
For fun: would you rather sit poolside or beachfront this weekend? Pool for me if it's well-kept, though I'd take a dip at the beach anytime too.
What were your highlights or struggles this week? My big struggle has been the movers. They keep putting me on hold and not following through with their promises. American Van Lines is really not reliable in my book. That's about all I've got for now-mostly venting about the movers.
Hi there,
I hope you're doing okay despite the trouble with your movers. It sounds really tough, especially since you haven't gotten all of your boxes yet and they were supposed to arrive by the 30th. That must feel like a long wait.
Have you tried talking to someone higher up at the company? I'm not sure if that would help, but maybe it's worth a shot...
I hope everything gets sorted out soon and that they deliver everything on time as promised. Leavinng a review might be helpful for others facing similar issues with this company.
Here's hoping things improve next month, and that everything goes well at your sister's place too?
Let us know how everything is going. Thanks for sharing all of this.
