Maybe Dealing With Unwanted Thoughts

I've been having some really troubling intrusive thoughts lately, and I'm wondering if anyone has tips on how to distract yourself from them? Maybe there's a way to refocus my mind so they don't consume me as much?

Hi,

I was given a technique where you imagine having a container like a Backpack to hold your thhoughts for later. Whn you have unwelcome thoughts or feelings, you can picture putting them in that Backpack instead of pushing them away completely or ignoring them. It's meant to help you deal with them at a better time rather than letting them disturb you right then.

Of course, intrusive thoughs migght stil come back even if you put them in teh Backpack, but it might make them less overwhelming when they do return.
