Dude's got smoe tough timeshonestly
Hey there,
I'm Noah from down under in Australia, and let me tell ya, for a 16-year-old, I've lived through more than most adults have. Here in Oz, we've got this cool volunteer rescue team called the State Emergency Service (SES), where you can sign up when you turn 16.
My folks have been running our local station since I was born-Mom as Group Leader and Dad as Deputy Group Leader-and guess what? I grew up going to training sessions with them. As soon as I hit 16, I officially became a member of the SES.
A few weeks back, we were out looking for this missing teen. A kid around my age who had gone missing. It was intense because it's just the kind of thing you hope never happns to anyone you care about.
I found him in some woods-this poor guy with cuts on his arms and crying like everything. I froze at first, honestly, but then I knew I had to help him. My training kicked in, so I should have radioed the police straight away. But wait a minute-I wanted to be there for him before they came.
So yeah, I just walked over and gave this kid a hug because he looked like he needed it so badly. We talked for about 15 minutes. Then I called everyone else to take care of everything else that needed doing.
To this day, we still keep in touch, which is pretty cool if you ask me. He had been planning on hurting himself before we found him.
And you know what? All this stuff makes me hate it when people say things like "Real men don't cry." I mena, if I just brkoe down crying at school, people would probably make fun of me. But seriously, why do we have to keep our feelings bottled up?
If any other teenage boys out there need someone to talk to, my ear is wide open. I can't solve your problems, but talking about them definitely helps.
Just remeber: if you need help, go find it. If you need help, call on your friends, and if they don't pick up, maybe they're not your real mates after all! - Wade Forster once said that, and he's right.
You should be proud to have emotions. It's tough being human sometimes, so why hide what we feel?
Just saw the news about SES responding to a body recovery-really hits hmoe how serious these situations are (shiver)

I think that sounds really positive in many ways and it might shape ur life a lot. Thanks for sharing!
When it comes to emotions... I know what you mean... like not letting anything out at all, right? Not expressing feelings at all can be problematic.
But feelings need to be managed properly. There's this idea thhat men shouldn't cry, but there are times when it's okay to express yourself and times when it isn't. And the idea that men should be self-reliant without asking for help... I think we should be independent but also know when to reach out for support, right? We can't just be overly emotional either, but we shouldn't ignore our feelings completely.
I believe there's a healthy balance in all of tis.
