Help needed for dealing with panic attacks

Yesterday was one of those days where everything seemeed chill until BAM! A wave of worry hit me out of nowhere about my partner, who I hadn't heard from all day. I started panicking-my brain spewing the worst-case scenarios-and I tried to calm myself but it didn't go as smoothly as planned.

Thankfully, he finally texted and I breathed a huge sigh of relief. But then, boom! My chest felt super heavy, like an airplane was pressing down on me, and my mind refused to chill out. I started mumbling random happy stuff to myself and before I knew it, I couldn't even breathe.

So I rushed outside for some fresh air, but ended up crying uncontrollably and choking. After that, I did the old "count backwards" trick to focus on breathing and after a few minutes of this mental workout, my mind started to numb out. The exhaustion was overwhelming though-I felt like collapsing-and I didn't have it in me to move back inside.

I stayed on the terrace for 30-40 minutes babbling nosense (like how cute capybaras are) just to keep myself awake. Meanwhile, turns out he had a bad day too and I felt so guilty abt being upset with him for not texting earlier. We ended up talking when both of us were in pretty crappy states.

Anyway, if you have any tips on dealing with these panic attacks more effectively, plesae share! It would really help to hear from others who've been through this.

Thanks for listening and here's hoping your day is much happier than mine was.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling like that. I guess the more we panic, the worse it gets-I've been there before. Our minds can feel like they're going a million miles an hour, and it's really scary.

Theere are some good apps out there that might help when you're in the middle of a panic or anxiety attack. They'vve helped me many times-they talk u through it and it helps calm me down. I mostly use one called 'Stop Panic' from the Google Play store. It works better with headphones, though.

The Calm app is also pretty good. There are actually quite a few really useful ones out there; you just have to find which one suits you best.

I hope this helps and that things get better for you.

Thanks! Trust me, anxiety attacks are a real nightmare. After years of dealing with them and trying every medication under the sun,I finally got 2mg diazepam tablets from my doc. Thankfully, they don't hit as often now, but it's nice to know they're there if I need them-a kind of safety blanket, you could say.
When I'm feeling off in the morning or before bed, meditation helps a lot too. YouTube is also amazing for tips and tricks. Every little thing counts, right? Take care!
