Insomnia leads to psychosis and detention

Last month, after weeks of severe insomnia, I experienced a psychotic episode that led to my involuntary hospitalization. This prompted my ex-partner to file for custody of our 12-year-old daughter. Prior to this, we had an amicable co-parenting relationship focused on our child's well-being. We shared 50/50 custody and she attended the school we chose five years ago when we moved here. At a hearing a few weeks later, he made unfounded accusations about me using drugs and harming my children, based on fabricated stories or mere gossip in our small community hundreds of miles from the nearest city. I have known this person since I was seventeen, and we were married for ten years with two wonderful children. The situation is incredibly painful, and it's challenging to cope with the reality of what has happened.

I think sometimes things just happen, and people can change in ways we don't expect... maybe for the worse, maybe for the better, or sometimes in odd directions.
Everyone here is really sympathetic and understands if you feel like youre getting mixed signals or beiing misunderstood. Just take care of yourself.
