Can You Touch Someone Without Permission?

So hey there, wondering if it's okay for someone to touch or treat you without asking first? Well, apparently in California, under something called the Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act, police officers and doctors hvae a pretty big free pass to do whatever they think is necessary to help you out during a temporary medical crisis. Now,I mean, that's what THEY say it means, but really? Is it just them stretching their power and making a buck off of your tough time? It feels like once this happens, you're kind of at the mercy of total strangers who may not even know what's best for you. They might think they're doing something good, but honestly, how can anyone else truly understand your situation better than yourself?

So, have any of you ever felt trapped by all these systems-the legal and medical ones-working hand in hand to take advantage during the hardest moments? What do others think about this whole deal?
