Seeking Mental Health Support
So far, I have recently tried working with a couple of therapists who claim to be trauma-informed, but in my opinion, both attempts were inappropriate at best and completely inadequate at worst. In each instance, I was told that the agency's protocols must be strictly followed. During the first interview with this most recent therapist, when I mentioned an accident, she responded with a dismissive "that's okay" rather than acknowledging it as a severe trauma. She interrupted me to emphasize that she needed to document everything, even though my chart was right in front of her on the computer.
If this seems like nitpicking, please let me know your thoughts. In my view, a more effective approach would have been for the therapist to introduce herself and explain the protocols before delving into my traumatic history. It's worth noting that I am not new to therapy; I've tried various interventions over the years, including family therapy during adolescence. Unfortunately, those efforts were unsuccessful because no one involved was willing to cooperate.
The agency sugested speaking with a supervisor as a potential solution for finding acceptable accommodations within their organization. This suggestion gives me some pause, though, because it's not so much about the individual therapist but rather the protocols themselves. My initial response had been to decline, but after further discussion with someone from the agency, I am considering taking this opportunity. Perhaps there might be room for negotiating more flexibility that could help address my needs while also allowing me to make a difference.
Thank you for reading and providing your thoughts on this matter

Just another update-I talked to the psychology supervisor today, and it was really helpful. They're going to look into some other interventions based on what I need. Maybe things will get better because of this. 🌿
