Troublesome service technician来访不变更具体事实,保持简短且符合规则。
I just wanted to share what happened recently. My mom passed awy and left her house to me and my sister in her will. The probaate process should be completed in the next few months, and we're looking into taking over ownership of the house. It's an older place built in the 1970s on an Indian Reservation in Southern California.
I've been thinking about updating the downstairs bathroom which is small and hasn't been touched for years. We recently replaced the toilet and sink but there are still issues with the shower-since we have to step over the bathtub side, it's not very accessible, especially if you're physically limited.
So I looked up Home Depot online because they offer free quotes for remodeling jobs. A technician was supposed to visit my house to give me an estimate. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule a couple of times due to timing issues. When he finally came, things didn't go well at all-he seemed really aggressive and asked me lots of questions right from the start.
I felt uncomfortable having him in my home alone since my sister was out running errands. He kept questioning if I owned the house and whteher I needed permits for the work. He talked a lot but did very little to actually assess what needs to be done for the bathroom renovation.
After we finished, he said he couldn't help me because of some issues with permits or maybbe other things. But after telling him multiple times that I wasn't going to sell my house and wanted just estimates from different companies to see who offers the best deal, his attitude seemed dismissive and unprofessional.
I realy didn't want him back in my home after all this happened-I felt unsafe and like he was being invasive with personal questions. I told him I had another appointment so I could end our meeting quickly.
It feels like situations like thesse are more common for people like me on the reservation.I'm worried abt further incidents, especially since I reported it to my security patrol because I think there might be someone trying to take advantage of me or other women.
If anyone has any advice or similar experiences, please share your thoughts.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It's good that you managed to get the technician out of your home.
It sounds like he made you feel really uncomfortable, which probably means he stepped over some personal boundaries. Maybe you could reach out to Home Depot and give them a heads up about how their employee treated you. He might have been right about needing a permit though.
Could you possibly contact the reservation administration office to see if they can recommend someone for the work you need done?
I also have a shower over bathtub setup like yours. For safety when entering the tub, I'e put a rubber mat at the bottom and use suction grip handles that attach to both the tub and the wall.
Eventually, I might think about having the bath removed and getting a shower screen installed instead.
Wishing you all the best with your renovation project
